Utah program teaches high schoolers about medical manufacturing

Skyline High School in Salt Lake City developed a Medical Innovations Pathway program to introduce students into the medical manufacturing industry, reports The Salt Lake Tribune.

The program incorporates high school and college-level class work with on-the-job training and internships, allowing students to graduate with a certificate in medical manufacturing innovations.

Students in the program earn college credit while also exploring a potential career path, said Martin Bates, superintendent of Granite School District.

The Utah Department of Workforce Services donated $200,000 to help the Granite School District implement a one-year pilot program for the Medical Innovations Pathway, according to Ben Hart, managing director for urban and rural business services at the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development.
