Titan Medical appoints new CEO: 6 things to know

 Titan Medical Industries named David McNally as a director and the new CEO of the Toronto-based robotic surgery company.

Here are six things to know.

1. Mr. McNally stepped into his new role Jan. 1.

2. He succeeds interim CEO John Barker, who will stay with the company as a director.

3. Prior to his role at Titan Medical, Mr. McNally founded Domain Surgical and served as president, CEO and chairman of the board for the Salt Lake City-based company. In 2016, Domain Surgical merged with the flexible laser company OmniGuide.

4. Mr. McNally also served as the co-founder, president and CEO of the device maker ZEVEX, which was acquired by Moog in 2007.

5. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

6. Mr. McNally is the co-inventor of more than 30 patents ferromagnetic surgical devices and systems, electromagnetic and ultrasonic sensors and medical fluid delivery systems.
