Couple sues Amazon, claiming eclipse glasses left them with eye damage

A South Carolina couple filed a proposed class action lawsuit against Amazon Tuesday, claiming faulty solar eclipse glasses they purchased from the online retailer gave them eye damage, reports Reuters.

Corey Payne and Kayla Harris purchased a three-pack of eclipse glasses from Amazon in early August to wear while viewing the total solar eclipse on Aug. 21. Mr. Payne and Ms. Harris both developed vision impairments, including blurriness and distorted vision, several days after viewing the eclipse, according to the lawsuit.

Amazon issued a recall for unofficial solar eclipse glasses sold on the site and began notifying customers August 10. However, Mr. Payne and Ms. Harris said Amazon did not inform them about the recall.

Amazon did not respond Reuter's request for comment.
