Baxter's sales increase 3% in Q3: 3 keynotes

Baxter International, a Deerfield, Ill.-based company offering various renal and hospital products, reported sales of $2.6 billion in the third quarter of fiscal year 2016, representing a 3 percent increase year over year.

Here are three keynotes on the company's financial performance in the third quarter of FY 2016.

1. U.S. sales showed a 6 percent increase, hitting $1.1 billion in the third quarter of FY 2016, while international sales reached 1.5 billion, representing a 1 percent increase from the same period the year prior.

2. The company's sales of hospital products marked a 2 percent increase in the third quarter of FY 2016 to reach $1.6 billion, while renal sales hit $977 million, showing a 4 percent increase from the third quarter of 2015.

3. After a strong financial performance for the first three quarters of the year, Baxter is updating its financial outlook for 2016, expecting higher total sales growth and earnings.
