America's Essential Hospitals partners with Premier to improve supply chain management

America's Essential Hospitals, based in Washington D.C., will partner with the group purchasing organization Premier.

Under the agreement, Premier will become a corporate affiliate of America's Essential Hospitals and the hospital association will recognize Premier as its preferred GPO.

America's Essential Hospitals will raise Premier's visibility among the association's nearly 275 member hospitals. The GPO, based in Charlotte, N.C., provides supply chain and integrated pharmacy programs to improve clinical, cost and population health management.

America's Essential Hospitals and Premier will also collaborate to test new supply chain models aimed at helping large academic medical centers and hospitals that care for a disproportionate share of patients with specialized social and medical needs.

The partnership is planned to start in 2017. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
