6 hospitals in Illinois with top nurse-patient communication

The following hospitals in Illinois received top marks on patients’ HCAHPS surveys in the category of nurse communication.

At least 88 percent of patients at these six hospitals responded on their surveys that nurses always communicated well. In Illinois, the average is 80 percent, the same as the national average.

The figures are from CMS’ Hospital Compare website and represent HCAHPS scores collected from January 2015 through December 2015.

Note: Hospitals with fewer than 100 completed surveys were excluded from consideration for this list.

1. Fayette County Hospital (Vandalia) — 93 percent

2. St. Joseph’s Hospital (Breese) — 92 percent

3. Rochelle Community Hospital — 89 percent

4. Paris Community Hospital — 88 percent

5. St. Joseph’s Hospital (Highland) — 88 percent

6. Crawford Memorial Hospital (Robinson) — 88 percent
