Ohio hospital patient steals an ambulance to drive herself home

After Lisa Carr was discharged from the hospital, she missed her bus and was stranded — but not for long, EMS1.com reports.

On Aug. 18, Ms. Carr, a 43-year-old resident of Cincinnati, saw an empty ambulance outside the hospital. The driver had left it running to escort a patient, according to KMBC.com.

The ambulance driver reported the stolen vehicle to Cincinnati police, who tracked the missing vehicle to Ms. Carr's home 9.6 miles away.

"Mrs. Carr stated that she took the vehicle because she missed the last bus," police wrote in an affidavit, according to News Channel 10.

Mrs. Carr was taken to Hamilton County jail and placed in custody on charges of theft, failure to comply with police and driving under suspension.
