Florida nurse arrested on 131 felony charges

Alex Rodriguez, a nurse previously affiliated with Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Memorial Health System, was arrested Friday on 131 felony counts, including charges related to fraud, drugs and forgery.

He also faces one count of a crime against a person, according a local NBC affiliate.

Mr. Rodriguez was fired from Lee Memorial in August.

"Through our patient safety program, we became aware of an individual's questionable activity and promptly launched an investigation. This individual is no longer affiliated with Lee Memorial Health System and we are cooperating with the Lee County sheriff's office in the investigation," a statement from Lee Memorial sent to the News-Press reads.

Mr. Rodriguez appeared in court Saturday and is being held in the Lee County jail on a $655,000 bond. He will appear in court again Oct. 4, according to the reports.

Deputies have not released further details of Mr. Rodriguez's case.
