1. Penn Health System settles improper billing allegations for $845k
Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania Health System agreed to pay the federal government $845,000 to resolve False Claims Act allegations.

2. Walgreens to pay $50M kickback settlement
Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens agreed to pay $50 million to resolve allegations it violated the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act.

3. Appeals court reduces judgment against HCA to $188M in breach of contract suit
The Missouri Court of Appeals reduced a judgment against Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America by more than half in a breach of contract suit brought by the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.

4. CHS executives ink $60M settlement in investor suit
A Tennessee federal judge approved a $60 million agreement Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and its executives inked with investors to resolve breach of fiduciary duty allegations.

5. Norman Regional Health System in Oklahoma accused of billing fraud
A qui tam, or whistle-blower, complaint filed in 2014 and unsealed Tuesday alleges Norman (Okla.) Regional Health System, the system's former COO and six radiologists engaged in a fraudulent billing scheme.

6. US Supreme Court to hear Epic overtime case
The U.S. Supreme Court will decide whether companies can require employees to sign arbitration agreements preventing workers from pursuing group claims in court. The Supreme Court took three cases on the issue, one of which involves Verona, Wis.-based Epic Systems.

A California federal court denied three motions brought by Prime Healthcare Services in a lawsuit alleging the Ontario, Calif.-based hospital chain violated the False Claims Act.

Twelve patients filed a civil lawsuit against WellSpan York (Pa.) Hospital that alleges the hospital failed to protect them from exposure to nontuberculous mycobacterium during open-heart surgery.

9. Patient allegedly steals physician's white coat to escape Texas hospital after arrest
A 33-year-old woman was charged with a felony after police say she took a physician's white coat and used it to escape police custody at UMC Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas.

10. California physician accuses Molina of withholding payments for Medicaid services
Los Angeles-area physician Manuel Figueroa, MD, filed a putative class-action lawsuit against Molina Healthcare, claiming the Long Beach, Calif.-based insurer owes him money for Medicaid services he provided between Jan. 1, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2014.
