2 healthcare executives on Forbes' '12 Worst Career Crashes of 2016' list

Forbes has unveiled its list of the "12 Worst Career Crashes of 2016."

To accumulate the list of names, Forbes searched the year's news and consulted its in-house experts. Two healthcare executives made this year's list.

1. Elizabeth Holmes, founder and CEO of Theranos. Ms. Holmes founded Theranos in 2003. In 2015, investigations about the company's blood testing capabilities proved its results weren't as accurate as initially thought. By this summer, Ms. Holmes' fortune — which is directly tied to the value of Theranos — had dropped from $4.5 billion to zero.

2. J. Michael Pearson, CEO of Valeant Pharmaceuticals. Valeant's significant product price hikes and purchasing of obscure drug companies raised concerns among regulators in 2015. Stock prices for the company quickly tumbled. After several months recovering from pneumonia, Mr. Pearson was fired from his role in May.
