Employee awareness about security is the biggest source of concern with regard to the threat of data breaches/exposure, according to the HIMSS Analytics' Healthcare Security Study, prepared for global communication services provider Level 3 Communications.
The study includes responses from 125 IT professionals at healthcare organizations, of which 21 percent were at the C-suite level.
When asked what their biggest concern related to data security and exposure threat at their organization was, respondents reported the following:

• Employee security awareness/culture: 46.4 percent
• Exposure from partners/third-parties: 19.2 percent
• Securing wireless, BYOD devices, etc.: 9.6 percent
• Lack of actionable intelligence: 8.8 percent
• Lack of appropriate network design and segmentation: 8.8 percent
• Lack of internal expertise and skilled security resources: 5.6 percent
