Survey: What factors influence happiness among IT professionals?

A February 2017 poll conducted by Spiceworks, an IT company, asked respondents to rank the top three factors that influence how happy they are working in IT.

The results included 3,591 votes by 1,295 anonymous users.

  • Stress level — 53 percent
  • Annual pay — 53 percent
  • Work hours — 39 percent
  • Vacation time — 21 percent
  • Ability to work remotely — 17 percent
  • Size of IT department — 9 percent
  • Other — 8 percent
  • How tech-savvy users are — 8 percent
  • Company size — 5 percent
  • Job title — 3 percent
  • Don’t know — 1 percent
