Parallon Business Solutions Insider Breach Affects Patients in New Hampshire

Franklin, Tenn.-based Parallon Business Solutions, which provides billing services to many healthcare providers in New Hampshire, has notified 40 New Hampshire residents their personal and health information was compromised in an insider data breach.

On February 5, Nashville, Tenn., police and the Secret Service notified Parallon Business Solutions that one of its former employees is under investigation for stealing patient information between Aug. 27, 2012 and April 23, 2013, according to the notification letter.

The former employee had improperly accessed the affected patients' names, addresses, Social Security numbers and health insurance information, according to the letter.

Parallon Business Solutions notified the affected patients March 21. The 40 New Hampshire patients affected by the data breach had sought care from 13 physician practices in the state, according to the letter.

As a result of the breach, Parallon Business Solutions is offering the affected patients free credit monitoring services, according to the letter.
