Oracle Health has launched a clinical AI agent for nurses that is embedded into its EHR, which includes voice-enabled charting, search and acute nursing summaries.
About two years ago, Oracle released a clinical AI agent for physicians. Since then, the company reports the agent has saved physicians more than 400,000 hours across U.S. health organizations.
The version for nurses simplifies their workflows and gives nurses more time on direct patient care “by making it easy to find relevant patient information, understand a patient’s current condition and complete documentation in near real time,” according to a Sept. 14 news release. The acute nursing summaries cover a patient’s history and current condition.
The chief information officer of Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System, an early adopter of Oracle’s tool, praised the tool.
“As we’ve expanded the use of generative AI across our organization, Oracle Health has continued to listen to our feedback to help ensure nursing capabilities fit naturally into the flow of care,” said Lynnette Clinton, who has been BayCare’s CIO since September 2024. “Helping our nurses complete documentation in real time has the potential to reduce after-shift charting, ease administrative burden and give them more time to focus on patients.”
