Microsoft to keep investing $1B annually in cybersecurity

Microsoft Vice President of Security Bharat Shah said the software company will continue investing more than $1 billion each year in cybersecurity research and projects, according to Reuters.

"As more and more people use [the] cloud, that spending has to go up," Mr. Shah told Reuters.

Although the $1 billion amount doesn't include acquisitions Microsoft made in the cybersecurity sector, the company has bought three Israel-based security firms — Aorato, Adallom and Secure Islands — over the past two years.
