HealthPort, IOD intend to merge

Health IT companies HealthPort and IOD have announced plans to merge to create a platform providing secure access solutions for medical information and related services and technology.

Alpharetta, Ga.-based HealthPort provides medical information access management and compliance services to healthcare organizations, and Green Bay, Wis.-based ID provides healthcare workflow solutions.

The new company that would be created by the proposed merger would have a combined revenue of more than $450 million with 6,000 professionals serving nearly 18,000 healthcare facilities nationwide.

"Bringing together IOD and HealthPort will create the scale and resources to improve what we do today and help us accelerate innovation and serve customers in new ways," said George Abatjoglou, CEO of IOD.

The merger is being facilitated by an investment from New Mountain Capital, a New York-based investment firm.
