Currently, there are more than 97,000 mHealth applications in major app stores. The top 10 mHealth applications generate up to 4 million free and 300,000 paid downloads per day, according to the report.
According to a Herald Online report, not only are consumers taking advantage of smartphones to manage and improve their own health, but 15 percent of mHealth applications are primarily designed for healthcare professionals. These include continued medical education, remote monitoring and healthcare management applications.
