CPSI launches community-focused, EHR arm

Health IT vendor CPSI has announced the formation of Evident, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CPSI that will be dedicated entirely to EHRs.

CPSI's EHR platform is geared toward community, rural and critical access hospitals. Through Evident, CPSI will now sell EHR solutions previously sold under the CPSI name as well as other EHR-related products targeting these types of hospitals.

While CPSI has historically focused on hospitals that have fewer than 100 beds, Evident will seek to broaden its offerings to meet the needs of community hospitals that have between 100 and 300 beds, according to a news release.

"With the vast majority of hospitals and providers now utilizing certified EHRs, we believe it is vitally important to further differentiate our solutions and support [the] model from those of our competitors as the market transitions to a replacement phase," said Boyd Douglas, president and CEO of CPSI. "While the success we've enjoyed under the auspices of CPSI is undeniable, we firmly believe the formation of Evident gives us the best opportunity to do that."
