Chinese hackers continue to target US companies following cyberpact

On Sept. 25, President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping reached an agreement stating neither country would knowingly support cybercrime in the name of domestic business support, according to a Reuters report.

But, cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike reported cyberattackers linked to the Chinese government have attempted to breach seven U.S. companies since Presidents Obama and Xi Jinping met, according to the report. The firm's software detected and stopped the attacks.

CrowdStrike reported its findings to the White House, but did not name the targeted companies, of which there are least seven. CrowdStrike leaders believe the hackers are affiliated with the Chinese government due to the servers and software used in the attempted attacks, according to the report.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry did not provide an immediate comment, according to Reuters.
