Centura Health receives HIMSS Davies Excellence Award

HIMSS has awarded Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health a 2015 HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award, recognizing the health system for achievements in using health IT to improve patient outcomes while achieving return on investment.

Centura Health worked to reduce hospitalizations associated with chronic disease management by 27 percent in the remote Durango, Colo., community by using alternative payment models with risk stratification, clinical decision support, patient engagement and analytics. Additionally, the system implemented a Medicare Shared Savings model of ACO care to reduce readmission for heart failure by nearly 16 percent and to reduce the overall annual per member cost of care by more than 7 percent.

"The Davies Committee and HIMSS congratulate the team members of Centura Health on improving the outcomes of their patient population through the effective use of health IT," said Jonathan French, director of health information systems at HIMSS North America, and program director of the HIMSS Davies Enterprise Committee.
