Apple employee found dead at headquarters

A male employee was found dead in a conference room at the Cupertino, Calif., headquarters of Apple, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Authorities were called around 8:35 a.m. April 27 on reports of a man with a "head wound," according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office has not released a cause of death, but ABC7news.com reported a gun was found near the employee's head.

"After further investigation it appeared there was no foul play and no other individuals were involved," Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Andrea Urena said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "This appeared to be an isolated incident and no employees or members of the public are at risk."

Apple has released a statement on the situation: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of a young and talented coworker. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, including the many people he worked with here at Apple."
