The 10 states with the most uninsured women

 

According to an analysis by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation of health insurance coverage for women around the country, 19 percent of women ages 19 to 64 across the United States remain uninsured.

The following is a list of the 10 states with the most uninsured women:

 

1. Texas: 30 percent of women ages 19 to 64 are uninsured

2. Nevada: 28 percent*

3. Florida: 27 percent

4. Louisiana: 27 percent

5. New Mexico: 27 percent*

6. Arkansas: 26 percent*

7. Georgia: 26 percent

8. Montana: 26 percent

9. California: 23 percent*

10. Idaho: 23 percent

Editor's note: Data was collected between 2011 and 2012 by the U.S. Census Bureau. Although the data is the latest available, it reflects uninsured rates before the Medicaid expansion and individual mandate. States marked with an asterisk have since implemented Medicaid expansion.
