Health IT and RCM sectors saw 59 M&A deals so far in 2017

Greenberg Advisors, a revenue cycle management and health IT-focused investment bank, provided a sneak peek of its 2017 M&A Update analyzing deal activity in the RCM and health IT sectors.

Here are three takeaways.

1. In the first half of 2017, 59 health IT and RCM deals were completed, according to GA. That compares to 111 in all of 2016. GA said if the momentum remains the same, 2017 deal volume will be up 19 percent compared to last year.

2. RCM/health IT deal value was $14.6 billion in the first half of 2017, up from $14.1 billion in the same period the year prior.

3. GA cited patient engagement and analytics as the most acquired technology solutions. The investment bank said patient billing and consulting have been the most acquired service offerings in the first half of this year.

GA plans to release its full 2017 M&A Update for the first half of 2017 later this summer, and said they will be available to talk about the M&A market at the Healthcare Financial Management Association's annual meeting, ANI 2017, June 25-28 in Orlando, Fla.
