For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Jan. 16-20

Three of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health saw the largest increase in share price, with shares rising 2 percent.

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services saw its share price rise 0.1 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare saw their stock prices fall last week.

Here is how the five operators stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $6.59 per share (down 7.8 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $79.71 per share (up 0.4 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $60.40 per share (up 2 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $18.10 per share (down 2.1 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $112.75 per share (up 0.1 percent)
