These new heads of remote work are charged with setting up workplace policies, testing workplace apps and improving employees’ digital experiences, all with the goal of improving employee retention and productivity. The role often cuts across many different departments, and rests on the idea of bringing a new design framework to the office environment.
Liberty Planck recently joined software company Gusto as their inaugural head of remote work.
“I’m really trying to focus on how [employees] feel, and then also how to use those insights to build delightful moments and meaning into their experience at work,” she told Fortune. “It’s critical that I have a feedback loop that allows us to test to see if what we’re doing is working, and then the ability and flexibility to iterate when it isn’t.”
