The hospital is filling 200 jobs in inpatient care, surgery, radiology, lab and other areas at the 80-bed facility.

Construction on Geisinger St. Luke’s began in July, under a partnership between Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network.

The 120,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in fall of 2019. Once completed, it will feature an emergency department, medical/surgical suites and an intensive care unit.

“Hospitals have a substantial economic benefit in their communities,” said Gabe Kamarousky, president of Geisinger St. Luke’s. “What’s great about Geisinger St. Luke’s is we’re not only provide additional employment opportunities in this part of Schuylkill County, but we’re bringing care closer to home. Patients won’t need to travel great distances for the procedures they need or the doctors they want to see.”
