Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic will stop posting remote-only job listings, effective May 1, to strengthen collaboration and advance innovation.
New hybrid job postings will require staff to live within 100 miles of their assigned Mayo Clinic site, a health system spokesperson said in a statement shared with Becker’s May 5.
“Mayo Clinic continually evaluates how we work to ensure we deliver the highest level of care to our patients,” the spokesperson said. “We are always seeking ways to strengthen collaboration across roles and disciplines, recognizing that in-person connection and shared expertise are essential to staying responsive, advancing innovation and meeting the needs of those we serve.”
The system did not confirm whether employees in remote-only roles will remain remote. Mayo Clinic employs approximately 83,000 people.
In healthcare, 12.7% of high-paying jobs are available as fully remote, according to a July report from career site Ladders, representing a nearly 30% increase quarter-over-quarter. The report also found the availability of six-figure remote and hybrid job opportunities is declining to pre-pandemic levels, with the exception of healthcare and technology.
