Healthcare gained 50,600 jobs in April, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is roughly in line with the average monthly increase of 52,000 jobs over the previous 12 months.
Here are four other things to know from the May 2 report:
1. April job growth continued for hospitals and ambulatory healthcare services, which added 22,100 and 21,400 jobs, respectively.
2. Within ambulatory healthcare services, physician offices added 8,000 jobs last month, while outpatient care centers added 5,400.
3. Nursing and residential care facilities added 7,100 jobs in April.
4. Overall, the U.S. added 177,000 jobs across industries last month, including gains in healthcare.
