Healthcare adds jobs in March: 4 things to know

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that healthcare gained 53,600 jobs in March, consistent with the average monthly addition of 52,000 jobs over the previous 12 months, according to the latest employment report, published April 4. 

Here are three other things to know from the report:

1. Ambulatory healthcare services saw an increase of 19,800 jobs in March, with physician offices and home healthcare services contributing 5,000 and 5,200 jobs, respectively.

2. Hospitals and nursing and residential care facilities added 17,100 and 16,700 jobs, respectively, in March.

3. The U.S. added 228,000 jobs across industries in March, including gains in healthcare.
