Nurses at Essentia Health-Virginia (Minn.) have voted to ratify their labor contract, concluding several months of negotiations, according to a Dec. 17 news release from the Minnesota Nurses Association.
The contract covers about 100 nurses at the 30-bed hospital, which is part of Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health and serves as a level 4 trauma center.
“This contract was won because nurses stood together,” Jodi Hensley, RN, and MNA co-chair, said in the release. “By voting to ratify this agreement, nurses showed the strength of our collective voice and our shared commitment to protecting patient care and respect for those who provide it.”
In a statement shared with Becker’s, Essentia Health said, “We’re pleased with the outcome of the vote, which solidifies a contract that reflects the critical role our nurses play in delivering exceptional patient care at Essentia Health-Virginia. Essentia is proud to successfully bring another nursing contract to resolution through a bargaining process that was collaborative and focused on ensuring access to care right here on the Iron Range.”
