Thirty-five percent of clinicians have a part-time gig or side hustle, while more than half work second jobs in healthcare, according to a recent survey from jobs marketplace Vivian Health. The company surveyed 863 U.S. clinicians between December 2023 and January 2024 to craft its fourth “Healthcare Workforce Report.” Fifty-seven percent of respondents were nurses; 27% were allied health workers; 12% worked as CMAs or CNAs; and 4% served in advanced practice.
The 55% of respondents who work second jobs in the healthcare industry are able to maximize their income and flexibility, according to the report. Others have secured gigs unrelated to their healthcare degrees, from creative pursuits to handiwork.
