Central Washington Hospital to Lay Off 80 Employees to Save $7M

Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Wash., will lay off 80 employees in order to save $7 million, according to a Wenatchee World report.

Hospital officials said the job cuts will affect overhead and non-clinical departments. Voluntary early retirement will be offered to employees 60 and older, and vacancies from retirements or departures will be eliminated.

The job cuts are in response to a combination of a poor economy and lower government reimbursements.
