34% of large-scale strikes between 2009 and 2014 came from healthcare and social assistance industry group

The healthcare and social assistance industry group accounted for 34 percent of the 80 large-scale strikes that occurred between 2009 and 2014, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Across all industries, 2014 brought 11 large-scale strikes involving 1,000 or more workers and lasting at least one shift, making it among the lowest annual total of large-scale strikes since the series began in 1947, according to the bureau.
