The system notified the New York State Labor Department of its layoff plans last week. The cuts will affect employees at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, Mount Vernon (N.Y.) Hospital, the Helen and Michael Schaffer Extended Care Center in New Rochelle, Mount Vernon Housing Corp. in Mount Vernon and New Rochelle Sound Shore Housing, according to the report.
Sound Shore Health System filed for bankruptcy in May and has an acquisition offer on the table from Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx borough of New York City.
