Regional Hospital of Scranton Union Delays Planned Strike

A union-led one-day strike, planned to occur Nov. 13 at Regional Hospital of Scranton (Pa.), has been postponed until Dec. 4, according to a report by The Times-Tribune.

SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania members cited the hospital's willingness to negotiate as the reason the strike date was pushed back. Negotiation sessions are scheduled for Nov. 21 and 22, according to the report.

The union announced the planned strike last week. About 800 employees at Regional Hospital of Scranton are members of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania. The contract between the union and the hospital expired Feb. 28.

Staffing levels, salaries and the possibility of outsourcing have been contentious issues during contract negotiations.
