Parkland Hospital Board Could Increase the Hospital’s Minimum Wage

A committee of executives and board members from Dallas-based Parkland Hospital recommended raising the hospital’s minimum wage from $8.78 an hour to $10.25 an hour, according to a Dallas News report.

About 230 of the hospital’s employees are earning below the living wage level, according to the report. If the rest of the board agrees with the committee, a pay increase could become effective as early as next month.

It seems the increase is likely to pass the board, as Jim Dunn, Parkland’s chief talent officer and a committee member, told Dallas News “The minimum wage increase will happen.”

A pay increase would cost the hospital $350,000 this fiscal year.
