Nashoba Valley Medical Center, union reach tentative contract: 5 things to know

The union that represents workers at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, Mass., has reached a tentative contract with management, according to The Lowell Sun.

Here are five things to know about the agreement.

1. The agreement at Nashoba, part of Boston-based Steward Health Care System, will be for one year. Bargaining across the Steward system will begin next summer.

2. The agreement affects a number of workers, ranging from radiology techs, to admissions counselors, to many other integral positions on the healthcare team. All of the workers are represented by 1199SEIU.

3. The agreement includes a 3 percent wage increase upon ratification.

4. The agreement also includes more predictable scheduling, improved overtime and vacation pay, more affordable health insurance and other benefits, the union said.

5. Additionally, Nashoba workers will also have access to college tuition and training benefits through the 1199SEIU Training & Upgrading Fund.
