Seventy-five of those jobs will be gone by Aug. 1, according to the report. In all, the workforce reduction will shrink Denver Health’s workforce by 5 percent.
The hospital is attempting to cut expenses by $18 million, according to the report, in addition to the $10 million in spending reductions the hospital undertook in April.
The hospital cited the federal sequester and increases in charity care as the reasons for its budget troubles. Denver Health has not had a full-year loss since becoming an independent health authority in 1997, the Denver Post reported.
