Nurses at the Upland, Pa.-based health system are represented by The Crozer-Chester Nurses’ Association. The two groups have been in contract negotiations since April, and the nurses have been working without a contract since June 8, according to the report.

The two sides have butted heads over staffing levels, with the system saying staffing levels are above average, and the nurses pushing for higher staffing levels. Additionally, the CCNA’s parent union, the Pennsylvania Association of Nurses and Allied Professionals, accused the hospital of “bad-faith bargaining.”

Operations at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland will continue during the strike, and a contingency staffing plan is in place, according to the report. “We are disappointed that the union has taken this action,” a statement reads, according to the Daily Times. “We do not believe that strikes…are necessary or helpful to the bargaining process.”
