The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute offers 13 different specialty centers for heart care, including the artificial heart program and center for aortic valve disease. U.S. News & World Report ranked UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside as the No. 2 hospital in Pennsylvania and the No. 19 hospital in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery in 2016. The hospital was also listed as high-performing for heart failure, aortic valve surgery and heart bypass surgery in its common care ratings. UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside is a Magnet-designated hospital that earned a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
