According to the report, about 80 percent of specialty practices in Southern Maryland do not have enough physicians to meet patients’ demands, and the partnership between UMMS and Civista will provide the hospital with specialists, particularly in cardiology and obstetrics.
Financial details of the arrangement were not disclosed, but officials from Civista say the two-year management agreement could lead to a potential merger between the two systems.
