Thomson Reuters Names 100 Top Hospitals

Thomson Reuters has published its annual list of the hospitals that are top performers on measures of mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, patient satisfaction, adherence to clinical standards of care, and post-discharge readmission rates.

The list is divided into categories: major teaching hospitals; teaching hospitals (with 200 or more acute-care beds); large community hospitals (250 or more acute care beds); medium community hospitals (100-249 acute-care beds); and small community hospitals (25-99 acute-care beds), according to a news release.

Thomson Reuters also recognized with its Everest Award, for the second year, a group of hospitals out of the 100 Top Hospitals winners that showed the greatest rate of improvement over the past five years. This year there are 23 Everest winners, according to the release.
