Sutter Health’s nonprofit HMO expands to 5 more counties

Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health’s nonprofit HMO plan, Sutter Health Plus, has expanded to five new counties in the Bay Area, according to the San Francisco Business Times.

Here are four things to know about Sutter Health Plus and its expansion.

1. The plan, which launched in March in Sonoma County, is now available in San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

2. Sutter Health Plus now covers 16,000 enrollees in 14 northern California counties, according to Sutter officials.

3. Sutter has an extensive network in the Bay Area. It includes 16 hospitals and campuses, including San Francisco-based California Pacific Medical Center, Burlingame-based Mills Peninsula Medical Center and Castro Valley-based Eden Medical Center.

4. Steve Nolte is the CEO of Sutter Health Plus.
