The department said consumers contacted Your Health Idaho, the state’s health insurance exchange, with complaints about an entity called “National Enrollment Center,” which reportedly is using “deceptive practices” to sell health insurance.
When the department attempted to contact the organization, the company hung up when asked about what organization they sell for, what type of insurance they sell or their licensing information, according to Consumer Services Bureau Chief Elaine Mellon.
The DOI reminded consumers that open enrollment for Affordable Care Act plans has not started and no company offering ACA plans will ask about pre-existing conditions. The department encourages residents to be wary of telemarketers saying they are from the “National Enrollment Center” or “National Healthcare Center.”
