New Hospital to Open in Minnesota

Maple Grove (Minn.) Hospital opens on Dec. 30, the first new hospital in the Twin Cities area in 10 years, according to a report in the Star Tribune.

The new hospital has 30 patient beds, with the ability to expand to 90 as demand increases. Maple Grove will focus on its labor and delivery department, with the expectation of 1,200 deliveries by the end of 2010, according to the report.

The hospital, which is a joint venture of Fairview and North Memorial medical systems, will employ 200 staff members, which could double by the end of 2010.
