The release refers to a new department report based on data from 69 hospitals statewide, concluding that Missouri’s 2002 prompt pay law has only had a “modest” impact on speeding up payments and needs to be strengthened.
Rural hospitals experienced greater delays, with 37 percent of claims over 90 days past due, compared with 25.6 percent for urban hospitals. By region, delays ranged from 10-70 percent past due after 90 days.
