In July, Memorial Hermann announced that it will acquire an existing Medicaid plan from Long Beach, Calif.-based Molina Healthcare. The deal is expected to close during the second quarter of 2017.

Valence Health CEO R. Andrew “Andy” Eckert expressed excitement about the new partnership and helping with the plan.

“Our clients’ provider-sponsored Medicaid health plans serve more than 1.5 million members. Combining our experience and insights from serving those clients, together with Memorial Hermann’s…clinical capabilities, creates a great win for Medicaid members in Houston,” he said in a statement.

Memorial Hermann has already operated commercial and Medicare Advantage health plans for several years.
