Lakeland Health (St. Joseph, Mich.). Lakeland Health, which was founded in the 1800s, employs more than 3,826 professionals across its sites in southwest Michigan. The community-owned health system encompasses three hospitals, an outpatient surgery center, a regional cancer center, two long-term care residences and 34 affiliate physician practice locations. One of the system’s hospitals, Lakeland Regional Medical Center St. Joseph (Ind.),  received an ‘A’ grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group in spring 2017 and the system overall was named one of Truven Health Analytics’ 15 Top Health Systems in 2017.
