The agreement, announced July 1, makes emergency care, specialty procedures and more in-network at Tri-City Medical Center for Kaiser Permanente members.
Tri-City Medical Center previously transferred Kaiser patients to Escondido-based Palomar Medical Center, but the new partnership allows for many services to be done in-house. Palomar Medical Center is still in-network with Kaiser Permanente, signing a partnership extension through 2024.
The contract between Tri-City Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente lasts until Nov. 30, 2023 — just after the expected opening of Kaiser’s nearby San Marcos outpatient hospital — according to the announcement. The opening will not necessarily initiate a full transition to the new facility.
“While some services may migrate to the newly-opened San Marcos Medical Center in the fall of 2023, ongoing partnerships will be coordinated directly with area organizations based on what’s needed at the time,” Kaiser said in a statement.
