The new medical/surgical inpatient nursing unit will be located above the hospital’s $14 million new emergency department, which broke ground in March and is still under construction.
The unit will include 24 private rooms, a visitors lounge, a staff lounge and two nursing stations, and will offer physical therapy rehabilitation services.
The project will add 15,300 square feet and will renovate the interior space. The existing surgical unit will continue to serve general surgical patients, but orthopedic patients will be moved to the new unit.
Pending review by the state Department of Health, the project will be completed by next summer, according to the report.
